Our Alahe^e varietal comes from the Ka^^ Desert, on the southernmost edge of the Big Island—a place where beauty meets extremes. This blossom faces stiff competition in the wild. Typically, it’s overpowered by the ever-abundant ^^hi^a Lehua, a more dominant and common source of nectar for island bees.
For Alahe^e to truly shine, the conditions have to be just right: enough seasonal rainfall to encourage a healthy blossom population and strong nectar production, without being eclipsed by the ^^hi^a’s overwhelming presence. It's a highly technical and uncommon alignment of factors—and when it happens, it's the only time we’re able to harvest this delicate, elusive varietal. The result is a cup with a lingering, nuanced flavor that reflects the rare circumstances of its creation. If you spot it, don’t wait—it’s a genuine Big Island delicacy.
